Changes to the GoodBarry Brand

There are some changes we'll be making to GoodBarry in the coming months. Most importantly, we'll be refocusing our marketing and sales efforts on the web professional market (via businesscatalyst.com), as opposed to web-savvy DIYers such as you. In other words, this means that eventually we will cease "retail" operations and focus on our wholesale operations, and we will only be selling subscriptions to our software via our partner and reseller network.

We want to reassure you that we are focusing on minimizing the impact of these changes to your business. Please note that GoodBarry is simply a Business Catalyst brand set up for our retail operations. We are the same company, sharing the same operational teams.

How It Will Affect Existing GoodBarry Customers

For existing "retail" customers, there is one minor change you will need to be aware of.

As of 1st October 2009, we will be shutting down the GoodBarry brand. This will be largely a cosmetic change for our existing customers - your site will be branded as Business Catalyst, not GoodBarry. The aspects of this change that you will notice include:

  1. The "branding" of your administration console. The GoodBarry system will operate exactly as before, but workflow notifications, your admin console and the log in screen will bear Business Catalyst branding.
  2. Your billing relationship will change to be with Business Catalyst.

How It Will Affect Prospective GoodBarry Customers

You'll be able to create free trials until 1st October 2009, and you'll be able to upgrade those sites until 1st of November 2009. After that date, no sites will be able to be upgraded via GoodBarry.

If you do not upgrade before the 1st of November, you will need to choose a Partner or Reseller who can upgrade your site for you.

FAQs

We want to reassure you that when it comes to our software and our support: it's business as usual. Naturally there'll be changes coming, and we've outlined those above - but we're still committed to providing the best software experience to our customers, and Adobe appreciates and shares this sentiment. We hope you'll be as excited as we are, and feel confident that you're in good hands.

Why is Adobe acquiring GoodBarry?

GoodBarry enables web professionals to build online businesses for their clients at a fraction of the traditional time and cost, without programming. GoodBarry will be a great complement to Adobe's existing tools and services for web professionals, who are increasingly looking to hosted services to deliver websites and online businesses.

Will there be any significant interruptions to normal GoodBarry service?

We do not anticipate any interruptions to our service. Our systems will continue to run at full steam, business as usual! As we'd normally do, we'll let you know of any scheduled maintenance.

Will technical support be affected?

There are currently no plans to change our support services or service level agreements.

Will Business Catalyst's management team be changing?

No. Our entire management team will remain intact and continue to manage and grow the business with the support of the wider Adobe organization.

Will the GoodBarry system continue to be updated?

Of course. We'll continue to deliver system improvements, new features and more.

Can you tell us what Adobe plans to do with the GoodBarry software? Any integration plans?

Right now we're focused on making sure our systems and support continue to hum along through the initial transition period. In regards to the future, we're currently in the planning stages. There's a lot of exciting initiatives in the pipeline, but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves so for now we can't comment! You can be sure that we'll be keeping you in the loop in the weeks to come.
